If you're a frontline worker, veteran, or military service member dreaming of homeownership in Florida, the Florida Hometown Heroes Program may help make that dream a reality.

This program provides eligible homebuyers with financial assistance to reduce the upfront costs of purchasing a home.

Who Qualifies?

The Florida Hometown Heroes Program is designed to support the hardworking professionals who serve our communities every day. Eligible occupations include, but are not limited to:

• First responders
• Court employees
• Child care workers
• Public safety personnel
• Teachers and school staff members
• Doctors and physicians
• Mental health professionals
• Nurses
• Medical technicians and other healthcare professionals
• Active-duty members of the United States Armed Forces
• Members of the United States Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserve
• Members of the Florida National Guard
• Veterans employed full-time by a Florida-based employer

How Much Assistance Is Available?

Qualified borrowers may receive:

• Up to 5% of the first mortgage loan amount

• Maximum assistance: $35,000

• Minimum assistance: $10,000

These funds can be used toward:

• Down payment

• Closing costs

• Other eligible home purchase expenses

How Does the Assistance Work?

The assistance is provided as a:

• 0% interest

• Non-amortizing

• 30-year deferred second mortgage

No monthly payments are required on this second mortgage.

The balance becomes due only if one of the following occurs:

• You sell the home

• You refinance your first mortgage

• You transfer ownership of the property

• The home is no longer your primary residence

Please note: The Florida Hometown Heroes loan is not forgivable.
